Hypnotherapy
Hypnosis is a natural state of total relaxation of the body and of heightened awareness of the mind. In this completely relaxed state the subconscious mind is receptive to suggestions to change your behaviour and your thinking in order to overcome your problem or concern.
How Hypnotherapy works
You will relax comfortably and be encouraged to breathe deeply, close your eyes and listen to the therapist talking. You will experience feelings of comfort, well-being and mild drowsiness. You are in control all the time even though you may feel that you are drifting. You will not do anything you would not normally do and you will only accept the suggestions that you want to.
Benefits of Hypnotherapy
If behaviour and thinking are involved in your problem then hypnosis can help. It is a tried and tested clinical method of working with a wide range of issues that affect well-being and health. These include; anxiety and phobias, compulsive behaviour, issues from the past, stress, pain management, problematic weight control and smoking.
Hypnotherapy is usually a brief process. Each session takes about an hour. Smoking can often be stopped, permanently and easily, after one 2hr session. Other conditions may take between 4-6 sessions depending on the complexity of the issue.
Reflexology
Reflexology is a gentle and non-invasive relaxing holistic treatment based on the principle that reflex points on the soles, tops and sides of the feet are connected to corresponding areas throughout the body.
How Reflexology works
Reflexology works by the application of gentle pressure by the hands of the therapist to stimulate the reflex points in the feet (or hands) to unblock energy pathways.
You will sit or lie in a reclining chair; you remain fully clothed; simply removing shoes and socks. Reflexology is suitable for most adults but there are certain conditions where you should avoid reflexology; these include the early stages of pregnancy or if you have had recent surgery or a heart attack. The therapist will ensure that reflexology is right for you after a confidential consultation.
Benefits of Reflexology
Reflexology helps to keep the whole person in good health by encouraging the body’s natural healing systems. Among its benefits are a deep sense of relaxation and reduced stress, increased energy levels, a stronger immune system, more efficient removal of impurities and toxins, increased circulation, pain relief and the improvement of a variety of symptoms, ranging from digestive disorders to back pain and insomnia.
The treatment will usually last for an hour. The number of sessions required can depend on your state of health but some people will continue regular treatments because it is so relaxing.
